Hello there WhatdoUwatch wrestling fans. Here are my WWE SummerSlam predictions for 2015. Hope you enjoy the commentary that comes along with the predictions. Leave your comments below if you have anything on your mind.
WWE SummerSlam 2015
Randy Orton vs. Sheamus
This match has the potential to be the Match of the Night in my opinion. Both are hard workers and they can both put on a great show for the fans. This is going to be a solid match for both the fans to watch, and the WWE to set the bar for their SummerSlam card. I think these two put on a show that tells everyone behind them, “Yeah, that just happened. Good luck topping that one guys.”
HECKLER’S PICK: Sheamus……..this one is going to be pretty straight forward. What you see is what you are going to get in this match up.
Los Matadores vs. The Lucha Dragons vs. The New Day vs. The Prime Time Players (c) (Tag Team Championship)
So we see what the WWE really thinks about their Tag Team division in this match. This is a perfect match to follow up the Orton/Sheamus match. This is match is going to have it all as Tag match go. The speed and athleticism of both Los Matadores and the Lucha Dragons, the power and agility of New Day, the ready for a Championship run (made for TV) Prime Time Players. IF the WWE is really behind resuscitating their Tag division this match will be 45 mins to 55 mins long, with many (many) high spots and made for replay moments, as the wrestlers make the crowd go, “Ooooooo” and “Ahhhhhh”. IF the WWE isn’t serious then this match is going to last 25 mins to 35 mins and it’s basically only going to highlight The New Day and The Prime Time Players, and basically not give any shine to either of the younger teams. Let’s hope that it is the former, and that is why the PPV will be 4+ (yikes!) hours. Based on what my brother has told me about the Tag teams in NXT I have to believe that it will be the 45 to 55 min variety with lots of high spots that keep the crowd energy at an 11 leading into Ziggler/Rusev
HECKLER’S PICK: The Prime Time Players…….. I really do think that the WWE is 100% behind this resurgence of their Tag division so I think that they give all of these guys a chance to shine during this match. I also think that that IS the reason why SummerSlam is going to be 4 plus hours, the WWE wants to give their talent a chance to shine during their Midsummer Classic.
Dolph Ziggler vs. Rusev
This match could go either way. If WWE Creative sticks to the wrestling and uses the “couples angle” in a minimal way then the match will be what it is supposed to be. Two workers trying to get back on the US Title/Intercontinental Championship radar in time for Wrestlemania. IF WWE Creative decides to emphasis the romantic angle and puts the wrestling on a somewhat back-burner, then this is going to be a bad match and will be hard to watch.
HECKLER’S PICK: Dolph Ziggler…….. I think a push for Dolph is coming, and I think it’s going to be for the Intercontinental Championship.
Stephen Amell and Neville vs. Stardust and King Barrett
Well… hopefully this match is a quick one that decides to: A) showcase Neville, and B) further the feud between Neville and King Barrett that will result in an ACTUAL match (maybe something like a ladder match, which would showcase both their talents – like Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon ;))
HECKLER’S PICK: Does it really matter as long as it is a quick match? Okay, it does matter (I guess…..poor Stardust). Stephen Amell and Neville…….the real question is will Amell dress as the Arrow or not. I say kind of. Walks down the ring as Arrow but takes off the costume to fight as Stephen Amell to blow Stardust’s mind back into reality. Yeah, I went there.
Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper vs. Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose
Poor Roman Reigns. He went from headlining Wrestlemania to wrestling the midcard match at SummerSlam. Not only that but it’s a Tag team matchup, not for the title, to boot. Having said that, this should be a solid match between four wrestlers not being used right but at least can take solace in the fact that at least they get to wrestle on the SummerSlam card.
HECKLER’S PICK: Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose……I guess the real person that everyone should feel bad for is Bray Wyatt. He has soooo many followers. So many “fireflies”. He can’t even get a push for the life of him. Maybe this is a way to establish Wyatt and Harper as a Tag team and they will fight for the Tag titles down the road. That would be a good way to use Bray (for now).
Team B.A.D. vs. Team Bella vs. PCB (Elimination)
You know what? I really think that this is going to be quite a great match. All the ladies in this match (yeah, even the Bellas) are great workers. Notice I didn’t say wrestlers, I said “workers”. Any: “Triple Threat”, “Fatal Fourway”, “Elimination blah” takes 3 things to work at any show (but especially a PPV). 1) Crowd engrossment…you got get the crowd 2) Believable spots that are athletic and high intensity AND…. 3) You guess it: Great workers.
HECKLER’S PICK: We all know what SHOULD happen, either Team B.A.D. or PCB should win this match. Yet we all know who is going to win. Yeah, I am picking Team Bella………I do think though that this match is where the Bellas show the world that they are indeed quality workers in the ring.
Cesaro vs. Kevin Owens
If Orton/Sheamus have any match to worry about in their quest for potential MOTN, it will be this one. Cesaro and Owens may just tear the house down in this one. In reality this match will probably end up as either Match of the Night or a close runner-up to whichever match earns that title.
HECKLER’S PICK: Here’s the thing. I didn’t watch the NXT special in Brooklyn. I don’t know whether or not Owens’ career is about to take a turn back to NXT, or not. Having said that though, I think Cesaro wins since Owens already had a match the night before and I think that WWE is about to push Cesaro in the US Title picture……….. The interesting thing about that is if Owens loses his title match I could see him winning at Summerslam to set up a second PPV match down the road with Cesaro in some kind of best 2 out of 3 falls, or 60 min Iron Man, match; but if he beat Balor for the NXT title, it could mean an end to his Main roster run so he would definitely lose. Take that for what you will.
Ryback (c) vs. Big Show vs. The Miz (Intercontinental Championship)
I want this match to be a great match. I want this match to be a Classic. I want so much for Miz to win the Intercontinental Championship.
HECKLER’S PICK: The Miz……….Sorry Ryback, I think your time is done. The Miz will elevate the IC title. Am I the only one that thinks this?
Seth Rollins (c) vs. John Cena (c) (United States Championship, WWE World Heavyweight Championship)
I don’t even know what to say about this match. Is Super Cena going to reign supreme and become a 16 time World Heavyweight Champion?
HECKLER’S PICK: Seth Rollins, via DQ……………. Maybe I am being naive but I think that Seth winning is what is best for business. Having said that though I do think that Sheamus cashes in (thus the DQ when he clocks Cena with the briefcase just as Cena has the upper hand) and pins Seth to take the World Heavyweight Championship away from Seth, turning him Face.
Brock Lesnar vs. Undertaker
Okay. I am going to be honest with you. I am not looking forward to this match. I mean, I am as an Undertaker fan, but as a wrestling fan I am just cringing at the thought of the Undertaker taking a German suplex from Brock. I hope this match doesn’t totally ruin the Undertaker for me.
HECKLER’S PICK: Brock Lesnar…………………….I don’t believe for a second that the Undertaker is going (or can realistically) to beat Brock, and I am a HUGE Taker fan. Having said that I feel as if the WWE backed themselves into a corner with this one, so they are going to do what every (and all) wrestling companies have done since the beginning of wrestling time: They are going to let Taker probably lose in some sort of “via disqualification loss”. Even though it doesn’t make real sense I guess Sting could interfere and cost the Deadman his match, to set up a Wrestlemania matchup between the two iconic geriatric superstars. Btw, I say it wouldn’t make sense since Sting has never done something like that in his career but you know…that’s never stopped the WWE before (Johnny Polo anyone? Anyone?)
Well that’s it folks, enjoy the PPV and keep a look out for the SummerSlam Review with both myself and Geoffery.
