Dective Comics #27: Quicky Review

So, as I’m sure most of you know, yesterday was Batman day and if you headed out to your comic book store you probably picked up your free copy of Detective Comics #27. If you missed out, or got there too late, here’s what you missed: DC27 This issue, commemorating the 75th anniversary of The Dark Knight, includes a retelling of Batman’s first every story “The Case of The Chemical Syndicate”. We get both the original version and a more modern take on the story with all new artwork, and I must say they did a great job of bringing this 75 year old story into the present. At the end of the issue we are given an addition short story written by Scott Snyder titled “Twenty-Seven”, a futuristic origin story for Batman…well at least a Batman…a clone of Batman? Some weird quantum, time travel thing? The story’s pretty vague on the details, but what we get is a very original take on a Dark Night origin story as well as some awesome artwork and an aging Superman! Overall this was an amazing issue for any Batman fan, and if you are one of the people that missed out go borrow it from a friend or find it online, because this is a must read for all fans of the Dark Knight!
